Studio IMAKEN LLC is a company founded by Ken-ichi Imamura in 2022. Imamura has over 40 years of experience as a director and producer at NHK and NHK Enterprises. 

Guided by the key concept of “Connecting Asia and the world through Documentaries,” Imamura engages in a wide range of activities. While he continues to produce documentary films and television programs, since 2025 he has placed his primary focus on J-Docs Hub, an international development initiative designed to support Japanese documentary filmmakers by Tokyo Docs, NPO. 

He has also contributed as a juror at major international documentary festivals, including the TRT International Documentary Festival (organized by TRT, the Turkish public broadcaster) in 2024, a pre-selection juror for the Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TCFF) in 2025, and President of the jury at Prix Italia (organized by RAI, the Italian public broadcaster) in 2025.

Since 2015, he has served as a mentor for the proposal division of the Japan Prize, an international competition organized by NHK that honors outstanding educational and cultural media works, and currently also serves as a pre-selection juror for project proposals.
